Future engineers will be immersed in a learning path centered on the study of:

  • Surveying and digital architectural modeling;
  • Technological and typological design of buildings;

  • Maintenance and restoration of the building heritage and urban regeneration, valuation, and building production.

Together, these disciplines will train engineers capable of contextualizing the project and reconciling the needs of the construction and building sector with those of environmental compatibility and of sustainability of the built environment.

Professional opportunities

The graduate in Building Engineering is a strong and competitive professional figure, capable of responding competently to the changing and increasingly advanced demands of the job market. Obtaining the Degree allows access to the State Examination, qualifying for registration with theProfessional Order of Engineers section B, Civil and Environmental Sector.

The graduate may work in support activities for building design, forurban planning and to the engineering of the building project, with skills relating to:

  • Surveying areas and structures;
  • The organization and management of the construction site;
  • Management and economic evaluation;
  • The technical-administrative management of industrial production processes for building materials and components;

Subsequent Training

The graduate in Building Engineering can continue their educational path anywhere and in different ways. In the Polytechnic University of Bari can continue training in the building sector by enrolling in the Master's Degree Course in Building Systems Engineering. The latter offers two specialization opportunities: in sustainable building and in the restoration of building heritage and urban regeneration. It also offers the possibility of following a Double Degree with theUniversity of Seville in Spain. In this case, attendance at courses takes place at the two universities in the two European countries and leads to the awarding of a degree that makes it possible to broaden one's employment opportunities to the Latin American context.

Training in Building Engineering in any case makes it possible to easily undertake other master's degree programs, starting with those in Civil Engineering and Environmental Civil Engineering.
