POLIBA BACHELOR'S DEGREES | AEROSPACE SYSTEMS ENGINEERING
Educational Objectives
The degree course provided to students is multidisciplinary and cutting-edge, designed to meet the needs of the most recent developments in aerospace engineering, which require integrating traditional training in the field of Aerospace with knowledge and skills in the fields of Automatic Controls, Electronics, Telecommunications, and Computer Science.
Duration
Language
Admission
In first year the preparation focuses on the introductory and foundational disciplines. In the second year, the fundamental disciplines of industrial/aerospace engineering and information engineering are explored in depth, providing a solid preparation in the field of engineering. The entire course of study of these first two years consists of a common pathway.
To the third year the student's preparation is completed with other core subjects of classes L8 and L9, with related and supplementary disciplines, with courses chosen by the student, with the training internship, and with the preparation of the thesis for the final examination. In particular, in the third year two pathways are envisaged in order to allow the student to explore in greater depth the aspects connected with the typical training of industrial engineering:
- “Aerospace” Curriculum, specifically in aerospace;
- “Avionics Systems” Curriculum, of information engineering.
POLIBA BACHELOR'S DEGREES | AEROSPACE SYSTEMS ENGINEERING
The Skills
Thanks to the multidisciplinary knowledge acquired during the degree programme, graduates in Aerospace Systems Engineering will have skills e skills:
- In flight and fluid mechanics;
- In manufacturing processes and in the use of advanced materials;
- In the analysis and processing of experimental data;
- In the use of controls for process automation;
- In the aspects of safety and maintenance of installations.
EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES
Professional opportunities
Graduates will be able to carry out professional activities in the industrial and information sector, particularly in companies involved in the design, production, and maintenance of aeronautical systems. The broad range of preparation provided in the educational pathway enables effective integration into various contexts:
- Aeronautical and space industries;
- Public and private entities;
- Companies for the production and processing of metallic, polymeric, ceramic, glass, and composite materials, for applications in the aerospace field and related sectors;
- Mechanical, electromechanical, plant engineering, and automation industries;
- Companies involved in the design, production, and operation of equipment, systems, and infrastructures concerning the acquisition and transport of information and its use in telematics applications;
- Public and private companies providing terrestrial and space telecommunications and remote sensing services.
The programme enables graduates to obtain thequalification for the following regulated professions:
- Junior industrial engineer;
- Junior information engineer.

Subsequent Training
Bachelor's degree graduates may continue their studies without additional educational requirements, with the Master's Degree in Aerospace Ingegneria, taught in English, an inter-university degree programme with theUniversity of Salento. The Polytechnic University of Bari and the University of Salento collaborate in delivering the programme by effectively sharing their expertise and human, instrumental, and material resources.
Furthermore, thanks to the solid interdisciplinary education acquired, bachelor's degree graduates may continue their studies with one of the Master's Degrees of the Polytechnic University of Bari in related fields of Industrial and Information Engineering, offered by the Department of Mechanics, Mathematics and Management and the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering.
