The Quality Assurance Unit is a central element of the complex self-assessment system through which the governing bodies of the university institution implement their quality policy, with essential reference to Legislative Decree no. 19/2012, which governs:
- the introduction of a system of initial and periodic accreditation of university sites and degree programmes;
- the introduction of a system for the evaluation and quality assurance of the efficiency and effectiveness of teaching and research;
- the strengthening of the self-assessment system for the quality and effectiveness of the teaching and research activities of universities. The ANVUR Governing Council then intervened specifically on the matter and, in one of its documents dated 24.07.2012, provided that at every university site, for the purposes of Quality Assurance (QA) of degree programmes and departmental research, there must be a Quality Assurance Unit or a structure with the same purposes.
