Health surveillance

The Sorveglianza Sanitaria provides for health examinations carried out by the Competent Physician aimed at protecting the health and safety of workers, in relation to their health conditions, the work environment, risk factors and the manner in which work activities are performed pursuant to Legislative Decree 81/2008 and subsequent amendments and additions.

Types of medical examinations:

  1. Visita Medica Preventiva: intended to ascertain the absence of contraindications to the work to which the worker is assigned, in order to assess suitability for the specific task;
  2. Visita Medica Periodica: intended to monitor the health status of workers and issue the judgment of suitability for the specific task;
  3. Medical examination upon request of the Worker: where deemed by the competent physician to be related to occupational risks or to the worker’s health conditions, which may worsen due to the work performed, in order to issue the judgment of suitability for the specific task;
  4. Medical examination in the event of a change of duties: intended to verify suitability for the specific task;
  5. Medical examination upon termination of the Employment relationship: in the cases provided for by current legislation (risk due to exposure to chemical agents, ionizing radiation, asbestos, carcinogens and mutagens) - for organizational reasons, the examination can only be carried out if agreed with the competent physician before the formal termination of the employment relationship itself;
  6. Medical examination prior to resuming Work: following an absence for health reasons lasting more than sixty consecutive days, in order to verify suitability for the duties;
  7. Preventive Medical Examination in the pre-employment phase: (preventive medical examinations may be carried out in the pre-employment phase, at the employer’s discretion, by the competent physician or by the prevention departments of the Local Health Authorities). It is therefore a voluntary medical check-up, which does not presuppose any employment relationship between the employee and the company;
