Antropochip, the Poliba podcast to reconnect technology and humanity

The Polytechnic University of Bari launches the enrolment campaign. We ask young people: «What impact do you want to have on the world?»

Without humanity, technology is not enough to promote genuine progress in society. For 2025/2026, the Polytechnic University of Bari starts again from this reflection and aims to foster a new awareness of technical-scientific professions in the era of digital, energy and ecological transition. A vision to be conveyed to future engineers, architects and designers, together with the innovative and increasingly complex skills needed to govern the ongoing change.

These are the premises and objectives of Anthropochip, the new enrolment campaign launched by Poliba for the next academic year: a series of podcasts aimed at young people preparing to choose their university degree programme. «Not a means to persuade them to enrol in our courses – explained the Rector of the Polytechnic, Francesco Cupertino – but first and foremost to help them reflect on their expectations for the future». It is no coincidence that the new generations are invited to ask themselves a crucial question: «What impact do you want to have on the world?»

After overcoming anxieties, fears and stereotypes in the 2023/24 campaign (entitled The Polytechnic We Like with lecturer and influencer Vincenzo Schettini) and celebrating doubt and critical thinking in the 2024/25 campaign (Cogito Ergo STEM with philosopher and science communicator Rick DuFer), the Polytechnic University of Bari therefore reaches a turning point: the mission is to reconnect the so-called hard sciences with the humanities, creativity and ethical responsibility, in a new training model suited to the times we live in and to possible developments.

The protagonists of Antropochip are Rector Cupertino and his guests, such as presenter Fjona Cakalli, astronaut Roberto Vittori, science communicator Adrian Fartade, influencers Andrea Pezzi and Giovanni Pizzigoni, and others.

In five episodes, the podcast explores the human side of innovation with irony. Each episode opens, in fact, with a provocative opening line (“Who designs whom?” or “Houston, we have a soul”) and moments of discussion on current topics, such as artificial intelligence, new professions, and the human-machine relationship. The spotlight is on the Polytechnic’s achievements and its development prospects.

With 3,340 new enrolments, the 2024/25 academic year of PoliBa recorded in fact a record in the history of the Polytechnic: after the already recorded +9% in bachelor’s degree programmes, Poliba achieved a further +15% in master’s degree programmes. The Almalaurea Report 2025 also named the Polytechnic University of Bari the second best Italian public university, with 91% of master’s graduates and 80.5% of bachelor’s graduates finding employment within one year of graduation; of whom 73% find it in Southern Italy.

«We need new skills – comments Rector Cupertino – but also new visions. Faced with the major challenges of our time – he adds – we have a duty to train engineers, architects and designers who are excellent professionally, but above all motivated to improve, through their work, the lives of people and society. There is still much to be done in the coming years – concludes the Rector – but we are on the right path and the Almalaurea data confirm it».

What is new in the educational offer. For the new academic year, the Polytechnic University of Bari is launching a degree programme in Management Engineering for Innovation, in partnership with the Technical University of Applied Sciences of Würzburg-Schweinfurt (Germany) and the University of Technology in Poznan (Poland). The programme, which joins the innovative Digital Creativity Engineering, launched last year, aims to train management engineers with multidisciplinary skills in the economic-managerial and industrial engineering fields, in order to design, plan, and manage innovation in industrial systems and production and organizational processes, within public and private enterprises and organizations. It is a profile that serves as a link between technicians and managers, oriented toward “best practices”. The degree programme has a flexible structure and includes a period of study at a partner university, with the award of a multiple degree, valid at both universities.

Enrollment dates. The important dates for enrollment are already online. The TOLC-I test for Engineering will take place on 4 and 5 September, with registrations open until 28 August. The ARCHED test for Architecture is scheduled for 25 July, with registrations from 23 June to 15 July. The test for Industrial Design will take place starting on 11 September, with registrations from 8 July to 28 August.
